Marie-Josée de Saint Robert, maiden name: Jastrab
Born in Paris (France) on 31 July 1953
Education:
Master’s degree in linguistics from New York University in 1979
Doctorate in English language studies (doctorate de 3e cycle en études anglaises et nord américaines) from Paris IV-Sorbonne in 1981
Doctorate in political sciences from the Paris Institute of Political Studies(Institut d’études politiques de Paris – Sciences Po) in 1995
Career:
From 1978 until 2013 : United Nations staff member
- from 1978 to 1988: French language terminologist at United Nations Headquarters in New York
- from 1988 to 1993: French language terminologist at the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG)
- from 1993 to 2003: Chief of the Terminology and Documentation Section at UNOG (responsible for terminology in the six official languages of the United Nations)
- from 2003 to 2013: Director of translation at UNOG
Since 2015, director of translation and terminology theses in the Department of Intercultural Studies at the University Paris VII-Diderot, France
Author of a book on the French language policy and of a number of articles on multilingualism, translation studies and terminology.
